Commecial operations begin on Kharsia-Korichhapar section the Korba-Kharsia new rail line project

Commercial operations on the 44 km Kharsia-Korichhapar section of the Korba-Kharsia new rail line project (Chhattisgarh Eastern Railway Corridor) commenced on October 12, 2019. The entire project involves laying of a 180 km new broad gauge railway line between Kharsia and Korba in Chhattisgarh. The line is being developed under the East Corridor taking the Kharsia-Chhal-Gharghoda-Korichhapar-Dharamjaigarh-Korba route to connect coal mines of the Gare-Palma block. The project is being implemented in two phases – Phase I from Kharsia to Dharamjaigarh and Phase II from Dharamjaigarh to Korba.
