CEA notifies draft Universal Feeder Code

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has released the draft Universal Feeder Code. The draft follows the Ministry of Power’s (MoP) letter to the CEA directing it to formulate a guideline/methodology for generation of a unique code for each feeder (rural and urban) to digitally map electricity supply-related infrastructure of discoms. The move is aimed at ensuring better utilisation of the installed infrastructure under various central government schemes. The CEA had sought comments on the draft guidelines by October 25, 2019. It has proposed a 16-letter code for the feeders. Many discoms in the country are already following a methodology for feeder coding, especially to integrate their system with the supervisory control and data acquisition system.
