The Maharashtra government has approved a new water supply project worth Rs 16.8 billion for Aurangabad city. The work for laying a new pipeline from Jayajwadi dam to Aurangabad, for supplying water to the city and its surrounding areas, will start soon. The DPR prepared by the civic administration has received technical sanction from Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) and has been submitted to the state government for administrative approval. The project will be implemented through the MJP. The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation had prepared the DPR for the water supply project after the urban development department of the state government had asked it to include the surrounding areas along with the rest of the city in a comprehensive project.
