The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is expected to seek approval from the central government for privatisation of six airports – Varanasi, Amritsar, Bhubaneswar, Tiruchirappalli, Indore and Raipur. While the Airports Authority of India’s (AAI) board has already approved the proposal, it will now be put before the central government. Once the proposal is approved, bids for airport privatisation will be invited which the MoCA is expecting to close by March 2020. These identified airports are apart from the six airports which were won by the Adani Group. Meanwhile, request for proposal bids for selection of a consultant-cum-transaction adviser for operations, management and development of the six airports on a PPP basis were invited on October 28, 2019 and are due by December 9, 2019.
