The Maharashtra government inaugurated the 13.14 km Sewagram-Sonegaon section of the Wardha (Sewagram)-Ballarshah third line project on September 11, 2019. The Commissioner of Railway Safety granted safety clearance for the section in May 2019. The project involves laying a third line along the existing 132 km Wardha-Ballarshah railway line in Maharashtra at an investment of Rs 14.43 billion. It was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in February 2016 and is likely to be completed by March 2022.
