Uttar Pradesh government launches Electric Vehicle and Mobility Policy, 2019

The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the Electric Vehicle and Mobility Policy, 2019. The policy aims to attract investment worth Rs 400 billion in the EV space by setting up 200,000 electric charging stations and targeting to have 1 million EVs, including 1,000 buses, on the road by 2024. The policy names Varanasi, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Agra, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Mathura, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Noida as “model electric mobility cities” where efforts will be made to convert 70 per cent of the public transport vehicles to EVs by 2030. Noida will be the pilot city for the project in 2020.
