Uttar Pradesh government approves land transfer for Jewar airport

The Uttar Pradesh government has approved the proposal for the transfer of gram sabha (59.79 hectares) and state-owned land (21.36 hectares) to the state civil aviation department for Phase I of the Jewar (Greater Noida) greenfield airport project. The project, to be implemented in four phases, involves the development of a greenfield airport at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh at an investment of Rs 157.54 billion. The airport will be developed on a PPP basis and will be spread over an area of 5,000 hectares. It will have a passenger handling capacity of 70 mppa and cargo handling capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) and will comprise two runways and terminal buildings.
