NTPC commissions country’s first ultra-supercritical unit

NTPC Limited has commissioned the country’s first ultra-supercritical unit of 660 MW capacity at the upcoming 1,320 Khargaon thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh. The unit will operate at an efficiency of 41.5 per cent which is 3.3 per cent higher than supercritical units thereby resulting in lower coal consumption for generating the same amount of electricity. The project is being executed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) as a turnkey project on an EPC basis.
