CPCL to revamp infrastructure facilities to meet BS-VI fuel quality norms

Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) is revamping its existing diesel hydro-treating unit from 1.8 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 2.4 mtpa along with a new sulphur recovery unit to meet BS-VI fuel quality norms that will come into effect from April 1, 2020. The BS-VI fuel quality project taken up by CPCL at Rs 18.58 billion is expected to achieve mechanical completion by December 2019. The corporation achieved a throughput of 10.695 mtpa in 2018-19 as compared to 10.789 mtpa in 2017-18.
