A 3.1 km petroleum pipeline laid across the Godavari river

IOCL has successfully laid one of the longest petroleum pipelines across the Godavari river near Rajahmundry. The pipeline, which is 3.1 km long and 16 inches in diameter, has been pulled through the Godavari’s riverbed at a scour depth of 20 metres. IOCL’s pipeline division laid the pipeline through advanced horizontal directional drilling (HDD). It is the longest 16 inch petroleum pipeline HDD crossing in Asia and second longest HDD pipeline to be laid for a single stretch of 2.2 km in the country.
