The Kerala cabinet granted approval for the implementation of the Kerala semi-high speed rail corridor project on August 7, 2019. The project, which is being implemented by Kerala Railway Development Corporation Limited, involves the construction of the third and fourth rail lines of 532 km between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod at an estimated cost of Rs 660.79 billion. The line will pass through 11 of the state’s 14 districts, and will stop at 10 stations. The project is expected to be completed by 2024.
