Indian Railways is working with Bangladesh towards increasing the frequency of two trains – Maitree Express and Bandhan Express – that run between the two countries. While the Maitree Express, which was launched in 2008, runs between the cities of Kolkata and Dhaka, the Bandhan Express, launched in 2017, connects Kolkata to Khulna in Bangladesh. Bangladesh has proposed to increase the frequency of the Maitree Express from four to six days a week and that of the Bandhan Express from the present schedule of one day a week to three days a week.
