RailTel deploys free Wi-Fi facility at 1,600 stations

RailTel has successfully deployed free Wi-Fi facilities at 1,600 stations under RailWire. RailWire is a retail broadband initiative of RailTel which aims at extending broadband and application services to the public. RailTel has provided Wi-Fi at 985 stations with its own/other funding, at 415 Category A, A1 and C stations in association with Google as the technology partner for radio access and at the remaining 200 stations with funds from the government’s Universal Service Obligation Fund.
