Coal India Limited’s (CIL) coal production has increased by 7 per cent to 606.9 mt in 2018-19 vis-à-vis 567.4 mt in 2017-18. However, the production was lower than the MoU target of 610 mt set for the year. CIL produced 79.19 mt of coal in March 2019 which is the highest so far in a month. Meanwhile, coal offtake stood at 608.1 mt during 2018-19, a growth of 4.8 per cent over the previous year and supply to the power sector was 488 mt which is 7 per cent higher than the figure for 2017-18.
