Supreme Court suspends EC grant for Mopa airport

The Supreme Court has suspended the environmental clearance granted by the expert appraisal committee  for the proposed Mopa airport. In this regard, a meeting of state bureaucrats and officials of GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL), the concessionaire for the airport, was conducted to discuss the likely impact. As per the officials, the temporary suspension of the environmental clearance will lead to the project missing the 2020 deadline set for completion of Phase I of the project. Also, due to the delay, GGIAL is currently facing losses amounting to Rs 6 million per day.
