GMR receives LoA for Nagpur international airport

GMR Airports Limited has received the letter of award (LoA) from MIHAN [Multimodal International Hub Airport at Nagpur] India Limited for the development, operation and management of the Nagpur international airport on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis. GMR has offered the highest revenue share of 14.49 per cent of gross revenue to MIHAN to manage the airport for a period of 30 years. With respect to the scope of work, GMR will upgrade and modernise the existing Nagpur airport by expanding the runway from the existing 3,200 metre length to 3,600 metres besides developing an additional parallel runway for handling Airbus A380 and similar aircraft. In addition, a cargo complex and maintenance, repair and overhaul facility will also be developed, among other associated works. Once completed, the airport will have the capacity of handling 6.93 million passengers and 55,000 tonnes of cargo per annum.
