World Bank to provide $40 million loan for Greater Shimla water supply and sewerage project

The Himachal Pradesh government has signed a loan agreement with the World Bank for providing financial assistance of Rs 2,853.82 million ($40 million) for the Greater Shimla Water Supply and Sewerage Project. The project is being implemented by Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited under the Shimla Water Supply and Sewerage Service Delivery Reform Programmatic Development Policy Loan 1. It involves supplying bulk water to Shimla from a new source in the Sutlej river and providing 24×7 water supply and sewage management services to all households in the Greater Shimla and peri-urban areas.
