KoPT flagged off maiden train from Netaji Subhas Dock

The Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) has flagged off the maiden train of containers from the Netaji Subhas Dock to Nepal under its new simplified transshipment process. Under the new system, customs has waived the requirement for a Nepalese importer to file a customs transit declaration at Kolkata customs. Besides facilitating a seamless import process, the new procedure is expected to significantly reduce time, documentation requirements and end-to-end costs for Nepalese traders.
