Gujarat government approves Rs 5.96 billion grant to municipalities for infrastructure works

The Gujarat government has approved a grant of Rs 5.96 billion to 18 municipalities and six municipal corporations for various infrastructure and development works. The state administration has approved Rs 1.53 billion for water supply projects and Rs 3.44 billion for underground drainage projects, among others. Civic agency-wise, Rs 622 million has been approved for water supply projects of the Surat Municipal Corporation, Rs 610 million has been allocated to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation for setting up a 50 million litre per day (mld) water treatment plant and Rs 120 million for drinking water works in peripheral areas now merged with the civic agency’s jurisdiction.
