The foundation stone for the Agra metro rail project was laid on March 8, 2019. The project involves the development of a 30 km long metro rail system in the city at an investment of Rs 83.79 billion. It will comprise two corridors – the Sikandra-Taj East Gate (Corridor 1, 14 km) and the Agra Cantt-Kalindi Vihar (Corridor 2, 15.4 km). Corridor 1 will be partly elevated and partly underground and will have 13 stations, while Corridor 2 will be entirely elevated and will have 14 stations. The project is expected to be completed in five years.
