Central government flags off 10,000 HP diesel-to-electric converted freighter locomotive

The central government flagged off the first-ever 10,000 horsepower diesel-to-electric-converted freighter locomotive at the Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi, on February 19, 2019. A total of two WDG3A diesel locomotives have been converted into twin WAGC3 locomotives as part of the Make in India initiative. This indigenous development has been carried out by the Research, Design and Standards Organisation, Chittaranjan Locomotive Works in association with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited.
