CCEA approves Pradhan Mantri JI-VAN Yojana

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the Pradhan Mantri JI-VAN [Jaiv Indhan-Vatavaran Anukool fasal awashesh Nivaran] Yojana. The programme will provide financial support to integrated bioethanol projects using lignocellulosic biomass and other renewable feedstock. Under the programme, two commercial-scale and 10 demonstration-scale second-generation ethanol projects will be provided viability gap funding support in two phases. Under Phase I (2018-19 to 2022-23), six commercial projects and five demonstration projects will be supported. Further, under Phase II (2020-21 to 2023-24), the remaining six commercial projects and five demonstration projects will be supported. The JI-VAN Yojana will be supported by a total financial outlay of Rs 19.69 billion for the period 2018-19 to 2023-24. The Centre for High Technology, a technical body under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), will be the implementation agency for the programme.
