Operators urge DoT to defer deadline for mandatory testing of imported network equipment

Telecom operators have requested DoT to defer the April 1, 2019 deadline for mandatory testing and certification of imported network equipment, citing paucity of labs to undertake such in-country screening as the reason. To this end, operators have requested DoT and its technical wing, the Telecom Engineering Centre, to pave the way for early mutual recognition agreements between India and other countries for testing and certification of telecom equipment.
