MoUs signed for Dholera airport in Gujarat and Dhalbhumgarh airport in Jharkhand

The Gujarat government signed an MoU with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for development of the Dholera (Federa) International Airport on January 19, 2019. As per the MoU, Dholera airport will be developed in three phases, with works under Phase I estimated to cost Rs 15 billion.

In a separate development, the Jharkhand government signed an MoU with AAI to develop an airport at Dhalbhumgarh in East Singhbhum district on January 24, 2019. The foundation stone for commencing works at the airport has also been laid. As per the MoU, both the agencies will form a joint venture (JV) through which the airport will be developed. With regard to construction, work on the airport will be taken up in two phases. In Phase I, AAI will invest Rs 1 billion to construct the boundary wall of the airport and develop a runway, among other works.
