MoP introduces Pilot Scheme-II for power procurement

The MoP has introduced the Pilot Scheme-II to facilitate procurement of 2,500 MW of power for three years from gencos that have coal-based power plants which are already commissioned but lack a power purchase agreement (PPA). The proposed scheme envisages procurement of power through the competitive bidding process, to be conducted by PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL) as the nodal agency. Under the scheme, a single entity can be allotted a maximum capacity of 600 MW. It assures a minimum offtake of 55 per cent of the contracted capacity and the tariff will be fixed for three years without escalation.
