The Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) and the Assam government have signed an MoU to further enhance the state’s inland water transport (IWT) system. The MoU follows the funding agreement signed between the Assam government and the World Bank to modernise and transform IWT in the state. According to the MoU, IRClass will provide technical assistance including preparation of technical specification of vessels, evaluation of shipyard bids, inspections during construction, and certification.
