Etihad Airways purchases Jet Airways’ tickets in advance to support operations

Etihad Airways has purchased Jet Airways’ tickets worth $35 million (Rs 2.52 billion) in advance through its loyalty programme Jet Privilege, thereby infusing funds into the ailing airline. The tickets will be offered to Jet Privilege members as redemption for their accumulated miles of air travel. Earlier, in October 2018, the Gulf-based airline had entered into a similar transaction to meet the working capital requirement of Jet Airways. Meanwhile, in a major setback, Jet Airways has announced grounding of four of its aircraft due to non-payment of lease rentals.
