Telecom ministry submits year-end review of government’s performance in telecom sector

According to the year-end review by the Ministry of Communications, the government’s spending on telecom infrastructure increased from Rs 99 billion during 2009-14 to Rs 600 billion during 2014-19, a six-fold increase. As per the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), a number of industry-favourable initiatives were taken during the 2014-19 period such as ensuring the availability of adequate spectrum; allowing of spectrum sharing and trading, and harmonisation; allowing of passive and active infrastructure sharing, among others.
