MoP announces smart metering plans

The MoP has announced plans to convert all existing and new meters into smart and prepaid meters within three years starting April 1, 2019. This step will result in the reduction of aggregate technical and commercial losses, better revenue collection for discoms, incentivisation of energy conservation, ease of bill payments, and do away with paper bills.
