AIIB board approves Rs 28.52 billion loan for water supply project in Andhra Pradesh

The board of directors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has approved a loan worth Rs 28.52 billion ($400 million) for the Andhra Pradesh Urban Water Supply and Septage Management Improvement Project. The Andhra Pradesh government granted administrative sanction for the implementation of the project at a cost of Rs 41.88 billion in May 2018. The project involves the construction of water supply systems, including intakes at the raw water source, raw water transmission mains, water treatment plants, clear water transmission mains, treated water storage, distribution networks and household service connections with meters. It also involves the development of pilot waste water treatment plants for greay water treatment along with critical drainage improvements.
