Public oil marketing companies (OMCs) are planning to allot about 65,000 petrol pumps across the country soon. This will nearly double the existing retail network. Three oil public sector undertakings, namely, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), recently issued advertisements for setting up 55,649 petrol pumps across the country. This advertisement excluded Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram which went to polls recently. Advertisement for these states will be issued after polling is completed. The poll-bound states are expected to have 9,000-10,000 sites.
