Government may not provide financial relief as operators differ on sector’s health, says DoT

According to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the government may not provide a comprehensive relief package to the telecom sector as there is no common view taken by all operators. While Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) feels that there is no financial stress, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) have highlighted issues of financial stress. Meanwhile, DoT is in talks with the revenue department to refund Rs 300 billion as input tax credit to operators.
