The government has released preliminary “customs facilitating” rules for transshipment services at domestic ports for third-country export cargo from Bangladesh. The rules have been released under a renewed bilateral trade framework between India and Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the logistics providers contracted to transport the cross-border freight will need to file a bill of transshipment at the designated Petrapole customs station, along with electronic sealing tags procured from an authorised vendor. However, the movement of goods by rail will be handled by the Container Corporation of India.
