DoT to introduce mechanism to rank states on the basis of their broadband readiness

DoT is planning to introduce a comprehensive mechanism to rank states on their broadband network deployment readiness. It may even incentivise the top performers in an effort to encourage the states to prepare the digital infrastructure groundwork for eventually deploying 5G services. To this end, DoT will soon appoint an independent agency that will work on a ranking methodology for states.
