The Ministry of Commerce has extended the deadline for the installation of radiation monitors and container scanners at 14 ports till March 31, 2019. The ports are Chennai, Cochin, Kamarajar, JNPT, Deendayal, Mormugao, Mumbai, New Mangalore, Paradip, V.O. Chidambaranar, Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, Mundra and Pipavav. Meanwhile, the ports which fail to meet the deadline will be derecognised for the purpose of import of unshredded metallic scrap, with effect from April 1, 2019.
