Systra to advise on Kerala rail corridor

Kerala Rail Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL) has awarded a Rs 270 million contract to France-based Systra to provide consultancy services for the Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram semi-high speed rail corridor. The scope of work includes the preparation of the DPR by May 2019. The project is being undertaken by KRDCL, a JV of the Kerala government and IR. The corridor will span 575 km and is expected to reduce the travel time between the two cities from 12 hours to less than four hours. The trains will travel at a speed of 100 kmph to 150 kmph. The project is expected to cost Rs 467.69 billion and be completed by 2022.
