Maersk commences port operations at Ennore, Tamil Nadu

Maersk has commenced operations at Kamarajar port in Ennore, Tamil Nadu. The port offers connectivity between the ports of Far East Asia such as Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia, Busan in South Korea, Xingang in China and the Indian ports of Chennai, Krishnapatnam and Visakhapatnam.

With a total capacity of 800,000 TEUs, the port offers state-of-the-art infrastructure, including radio frequency identification technology-enabled gate operations. It has a permissible draught of 15 metres and handles the export and import of automobiles, temperature-controlled cargo, heavy machinery and equipment units.

In addition to no commodity restrictions at Ennore, Maersk is also providing its remote control management technology, end-to-end supply chain solutions such as store door, e-payment feature SmartPay, reefer expertise and trade finance options to its customers. These facilities will result in supply chain benefits for end consumers, exporters and importers in terms of reduced costs, shorter transit time and faster turnaround cycles.
