CCEA approves new broad gauge line from Bahraich to Khalilabad

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved a new broad gauge railway line in Uttar Pradesh from Bahraich to Khalilabad. The construction of the 240.26 km line is estimated to cost about Rs 50 billion and will be completed by 2024-25. It is expected to generate direct employment of 5.76 million man-days during construction. The new line will serve Bahraich, Balrampur, Shravasti and Siddharth Nagar districts which are four of the 115 “aspirational” districts identified by NITI Aayog. The line is also expected to advance tourism in the region.
