The central government is likely to sanction funds worth Rs 30 billion for two road projects in Kerala soon. The first involves four-laning of the 39 km Thalapady-Chengala road stretch from km 17.2 to km 57.2 of National Highway (NH)-17 at an estimated cost of Rs 16.73 billion. The second project involves four-laning of the 37.26 km Chengala-Neleshwaram town road stretch from km 57.2 to km 104 of NH-17 at an estimated cost of Rs 14.12 billion. Both projects are being implemented under Phase III of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) on the hybrid annuity model (HAM).
