Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) plans to shut its 120,000 barrels per day (bpd) crude unit and some secondary units at its Kochi refinery for three weeks starting December 1, 2018. This shutdown is for a mandatory inspection to ensure that the critical equipment is intact. Last year, BPCL raised the capacity of the Kochi refinery by 63 per cent to 310,000 bpd. It installed a new crude unit and secondary units including a delayed coker, fluid catalytic cracker, vacuum gasoil hydro-treater, diesel hydro-treater, sulphur recovery unit, and hydrogen generation unit.
