Maersk to merge Damco and Ocean Product units for improving customer experience

A.P. Moller-Maersk has decided to integrate Damco’s Supply Chain Services and Maersk Line’s Ocean Product, with effect from January 1, 2019, in order to improve customer experience through fewer touch points and a more comprehensive service offering. By combining its offering for ocean products and supply chain services, Maersk will be able to provide more comprehensive end-to-end logistic solutions for cargo owners. Further, it will help the company in unlocking its growth potential in the logistics and services segment. The integrated commercial organisation will operate with one management team and one sales force.

Damco’s freight forwarding business, which serves customers requiring air freight or multi-carrier options in ocean freight, will continue to be run as a separate and independent business under the Damco brand. By allowing Damco to focus fully on freight forwarding, A.P. Moller-Maersk aims to build a well-performing global freight forwarding business.

In addition to these changes, three of A.P. Moller-Maersk’s regional carrier brands – MCC Transport, Sealand and Seago Line – are being marketed as SeaLand-A Maersk Company, with effect from October 1, 2018. The simplified naming structure for these brands will help strengthen brand recognition and ensure clarity of choice for customers.
