Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has permanently shut down its MA (D26) field in the KG-DWN-98/3 (KGD6) block, after production from the block declined to zero. The block was operated by RIL, which was a part of the joint venture (JV) consisting of RIL (60 per cent), BP Plc (30 per cent) and Niko Resources (10 per cent). The field has been in natural decline and facing continuous challenges due to high water production and sand ingress. It has cumulatively produced about 0.53 trillion cubic feet of gas and 31.4 million barrels of oil and condensate and has no remaining reserves.
