The central government signed contracts for the blocks awarded under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy, Bid Round I with the awardees on October 1, 2018 at New Delhi. Contracts were signed for all 55 blocks with six companies. These were Vedanta Limited which got 41 blocks, Oil India Limited (OIL) which got nine blocks, ONGC which got two blocks, and Bharat Petro Resources Limited (BPRL), GAIL (India) Limited and Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Limited (HOEC) which got one block each.
