Trial runs commenced on Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 stretch of Delhi Metro Project, Phase III

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation commenced trial runs on the Lajpat Nagar-Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 stretch of the Delhi metro project, Phase III, on September 5, 2018. The 9.7 km stretch is a part of the Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar corridor (Corridor 1). This section between Lajpat Nagar and Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 consists of five stations – Vinoba Puri, Ashram, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Mayur Vihar I and Mayur Vihar Pocket 1. Of these five stations, Mayur Vihar I and Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 are elevated stations while the other three stations are underground. The section has one interchange at Mayur Vihar I. This stretch is expected to be operational by October 2018. Corridor 1 (Pink Line) of the Delhi metro, Phase III, covers a distance of 58.6 km from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar passing through Rajouri Garden, Lajpat Nagar and Yamuna Vihar. The corridor consists of a total of 38 stations, of which 26 are elevated while the remaining 12 are underground. The corridor will have a total of 10 interchange stations.
