Reliance Communications (RCOM) has completed the sale of its fibre and related infrastructure assets amounting to Rs 30 billion to Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL). With the completion of this transaction, RCOM has transferred 178,000 km of fibre to RJIL. Earlier, RCOM had received Rs 20 billion from the sale of media convergence nodes (MCNs) and related infrastructure assets to RJIL. This was the first tranche of wireless assets sold to RJIL. After this sale, 248 MCNs covering more than 5 million square feet used for hosting telecom infrastructure were transferred to RJIL. RCOM’s wireless assets comprise 122.4 units of 4G airwaves across the 850, 900, 1800 and 2100 MHz bands, over 43,000 towers, 178,000 km of fibre and 248 MCNs.
