India bans import of petcoke for fuel use

India has banned the import of petcoke for use as a fuel. However, petcoke import for use as feedstock in some industries is still allowed. The use of petcoke has come under scrutiny due to rising pollution in major cities. Import of petcoke has been allowed only for the cement, lime kiln, calcium carbide and gasification industries when used as feedstock or in the manufacturing process on actual user basis.
