Central government signs new wage agreement for Group C and D category of port and dock workers

The central government has signed a new wage settlement agreement for Group C and D category port and dock workers, with retrospective effect from January 2017. The settlement agreement provides a 10.6 per cent fitment on basic pay plus a dearness allowance. The overall financial implication of the agreement for all the major ports for serving workers and pensioners is expected to be about Rs 5.6 billion per annum.
