Union Cabinet apprised of MoU between IR and Indonesia for technical cooperation in railway sector

The Union cabinet was recently apprised of an MoU signed on May 29, 2018 between IR and the Indonesian government for technical cooperation in the railway sector. The MoU will provide a framework for cooperation for a focused approach in various areas, including the exchange of knowledge and technology; institutional cooperation including capacity building; modernisation of rolling stock and signalling and communication systems; modernisation of railway operations, management and regulations; development of intermodal transport, logistics parks and freight terminals; and exchange of construction and maintenance technologies for fixed infrastructure, including tracks, bridges, tunnel, overhead electrification and power supply systems; and any other area, that may be jointly decided upon by the two countries.
