NHAI plans to buy back 20 national highway and 19 state highway projects managed by private players

NHAI is planning to buy back 20 national highway and 19 state highway projects spanning 3,160 km managed by private players. While the total cost of the 20 national highway projects is estimated to be at least Rs 82 billion, the cost of the state highways is yet to be worked out. The projects that have been identified are the much-delayed Muzaffarnagar-Haridwar and Ambala-Chandigarh stretches in north India, the Tada-Nellore highway in Andhra Pradesh and the Salem-Namakkal stretch in Tamil Nadu. Of the 19 identified state highways, the maximum (eight) are in Rajasthan followed by four each in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.
