Government to set up over 4,000 mobile towers in Naxal affected areas

The government has decided to set up around 4,000 mobile towers in 10 Naxal-affected states to improve the telecom network in these areas. The expenses are expected to be borne by Don’s Universal Service Obligation Fund. Earlier, in 2016, the government had completed the installation of 2,329 mobile towers in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, at a cost of Rs 31.67 billion.
